Project GeoInSight (Geological constraints on the crustal structure at InSight landing site, Elysium Planitia, Mars) is supported by the H2020 – Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) from the European Union. In this project, we aim at characterizing the subsurface stratigraphy and structure using orbital datasets in support of the InSight mission which is currently exploring Mars. We analyze the mineralogy and morphology of exposed subsurface materials within and near impact craters and reconstruct the subsurface structure. This information could be crucial to interpreting seismic data acquired by the SEIS instrument onboard InSight lander.

Supported by this project, not only do we carry out research to characterize InSight landing site, support InSight science activities, we also try to disseminate what we learned about Mars to the public via outreach activities to make a broader impact.

You can find news and articles about InSight mission itself as well as activities involved on the front page of the e-Planets website. The posts are labeled with tag .
